Accessing Benefits

If you’re over 55 years old and looking to access funds from your pension, our Accessing Benefits team are here to help. As releasing funds from your pension can be a big decision that could impact your future, we recommend booking an appointment with the team to talk through your options.

Step 1
Contact our Wealth Team to book an appointment with an adviser to discuss what you’re looking to do. If you are seeking to make a withdrawal from a pension, we will conduct a preliminary triage call. During this call, we will discuss your intentions and the desired amount you wish to withdraw. Additionally, we will gather current and relevant information about your personal circumstances. This information will enable our accessing benefits team to prepare a comprehensive cash flow and recommendation report.
Step 2
Once the triage call is complete, you will be booked in with an accessing benefits adviser to discuss the report and recommendations. The report will provide a summary of the recommendations, along with cash flow modeling to demonstrate the potential impact of the proposed withdrawal. If you are considering taking a regular income, the report will assess whether it is sustainable throughout your retirement. This concise report will give you a clear understanding of the implications and enable you to make an informed decision regarding the withdrawal.
Step 3
Make your decision. If you wish to proceed with the withdrawal and we agree it’s sustainable please confirm via PFP message or call 0161 413 7051. The accessing benefits team can start dis-investing your funds with your pension provider following your instruction. Withdrawing funds from your pension differs from taking money from a bank account. Your assets must be disinvested, and the cash transferred to your nominated bank account. This process could take 10 - 14 working days to complete.

Please note – creating the first withdrawal plan or taking a one-off payment from your pension could take three to four weeks.

To book an appointment with an Accessing Benefits Adviser, please send us a secure message through your PFP or call 0161 413 7051.

Retirement planning is becoming increasingly important

Probably the most ignored part of your everyday finances is putting money towards your retirement. For some, retirement is decades away, so why think about it now? Others feel that they’re so far behind on savings that their situation is hopeless. Neither is true. It’s never too late to start saving and equally true; it’s never too early.

Retirement planning can be complicated. Getting help early might be the key to retiring comfortably, but even if you’re older and behind on your savings, our financial advisers could potentially find unexpected ways to improve your retirement funds or make them stretch further.

Call 0161 413 7051 to book an appointment to speak with your adviser to plan for retirement.
